Thank you so much for interviewing with us! Can you share your story on how did you get started in the creative industry?
I’ve always loved reading. I got into writing through school. From an early age in middle school- creative writing classes inspired me. I started writing with the aspiration to publish when I turned 21. I was at university studying anthropology. I knew I wanted to write something and publish it. I’m 35 now and have self-published 1 novel & 10 novellas, as well as 4 short story collections.

Who are you grateful for your success and can you share a story about that?
Although I haven’t made financial success with my writing yet. I have gained a lot of readers and reviews. I have done this through promoting my books on social media such as Twitter. I have found this enjoyable and it has been lovely to connect with a literary community.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you began your career?
I so wanted to work on my craft. I studied for a 2nd bachelors degree at the Open College of arts in creative writing. I obtained a BA over eight years of part time studying. In that time I wrote books as part of my course. I studied my degree online, which was a wonderful experience.

What has been the biggest challenge in your career so far? How did you overcome it?
I’d say my biggest challenge has been growing a readership. I have a small readership, which around 5–10 reviews on each of my books. It’s been difficult at times, but I work on my marketing skills. I use free social media to grow my author platform.

What are your top 3 tips for creatives that are starting?
3 tips for someone starting to write… Read a lot of fiction. Learn to market without spending more then you can afford- even if you have no budget for this. Be flexible on your publishing journey- I’ve seen some great authors turn down self-publishing and never find traditional publishing- which I feel is a tragedy for literature.

What has been inspiring you lately?
I find science fiction so inspiring lately. For the last few years I’ve been writing a lot of sci-fi.

What movie would you recommend watching and why?
I’m a huge Anne Rice fan, so both the vampire movies adapted from her books. Queen of the Damned & Interview with the Vampire.

What is one message you would give to your fans?
I’d thank my fans for reading my books. I would thank them for following me on my writing journey.
